Bukit Malapi Lodge Sukau, Kinabatang, Sandakan, Sabah (Sepilok, Kinabatangan River Cruise & Gomantong Cave)
Ex-Sandakan Sample of itinerary Day 01 - Meet at hotel lobby/airport (preferred flight MH 2042) and transfer to Sepilok Orangutan Rehabilitation Centre. at 1000hrs, witness the feeding of the young Orang Utans (pongo Pygmaeus) at the centre. Proceed for approx. 2 hours drive to Sukau (about an hour of bumpy/gravelled road), followed by a 5 minutes boat ride to Bukit Melapi Lodge (BML). Lunch at Lodge. 1530-1600 hrs, gear up for boat cruise along Menanggul River for the unforgettable and exciting encounter with the elusive Proboscis Monkeys (nasalis Larvatus) high on top of the trees along the Menanggul Riverbanks. Keep watch also for other primates including the long and short tailed macaques that are seen occassionally. At dusk return to the lodge for dinner. Overnight at BML. (L/D)
Day 02 - Free at Leisure. Optional trip to the Ox-Bow lake can be done in the morning to search more birds and wildlife. Return to the lodge for breakfast. 1530-1600 hrs, gear up for boat cruise along Menanggul River for the unforgettable and exciting encounter with the elusive Proboscis Monkeys (nasalis Larvatus) high on top of the trees along the Menanggul Riverbanks. Day 03 - After breakfast, depart Sukau for Gomantong Caves to observe the biggest birds' nest caves in Sabah. Proceed back to Sandakan for a brief city tour. Lunch at a local restaurant. Transfer to hotel/ airport (preferrable flight MH 2047) to Kota Kinabalu. (B/L) End of services
