Bukit Malapi Lodge Sukau, Kinabatang, Sandakan, Sabah (Sepilok, Kinabatangan River Cruise & Gomantong Cave)
Ex-Sandakan Sample of itinerary Day 01 - Meet and assist upon arrival and proceed to Sepilok Orang Utan Rehabilitation Centre for the standard 10:00am feeding time of the primates. Watch a short but informative video show of the primates and the centre before proceeding for a 2 hours drive to Sukau village. Upon arrival at Lapit jetty, board an 8 minutes boat ride to the lodge to be warmly welcomed by the friendly staff. Check into room. Lunch 16:00pm, afternoon river cruise along Menanggul River in search of the Odd Nosed of Borneo, the Proboscis Monkeys and other wildlife found along the same stretch. At dusk, return to lodge for your sumptuous dinner amidst the moonlit surroundings (optional night cruise is available upon request to the lodge)
Day 02 - Early morning up-river cruise to Ox-Bow Lake. Experience a short walk through the rainforest and possible encounter with the Otters and other wildlife. Return to the lodge for breakfast. Day free at leisure. Lunch, gear up for your second Menanggul River cruise. Dinner.
Day 03 - Breakfast, check-out and proceed to Gomantong for another short walk through the primary rainforest before you reached the entrance of the caves. Observe the largest bird nest caves in Sabah (please do not forget to bring along hat or any head cover upon entry into the caves). Return to Sandakan for a brief city tour (drive through places of interest). Lunch, transfer back to the airport for your onward flight or hotel in Sandakan.
