Tiger Rock - an
island and jungle hideaway- is the stunning rustic island retreat of
Rebecca, David Wilkinson and their 3 children. Set in 12
acres of jungle and backing onto 200 acres of forest reserve the 2
houses are cocooned on slopes overlooking the sea and mainland. David
designed the houses based on the traditional Malay wooden house and a
colonial hill station house. Rebecca added all the creature comforts one
could need and has surprised with unexpected color. Her paintings and
artwork are found throughout the property.
The vegetation around Tiger Rock is a wild mix of exotica introduced
around the existing jungle. Tiger Rock backs onto forest reserve which
harbours amongst other things, the Greater Argus Pheasant, a variety of
hornbills, wild boar & the flying lemur.

Hill House
has 4 guest wings with a central open sitting & dining area, & kitchen.
The Main House is rented out as a whole. The Studio is set
back, privately secluded from the Main House. The gorgeous Pool House
overlooking the jungle is the central meeting place of Tiger Rock. Tiger
Rock is truly a spectacular jungle hideaway!
Residence
The resort have 2 houses with a total of 7 rooms. The houses have their
own living, dining and kitchen areas (the Studio shares those of
the Main House). In addition they share a large library pavilion
below the Main House, and the fantastic pool and Pool House which
is fabulously situated with views over the bamboo and jungle. The Pool
House is the heart and meeting place at Tiger Rock and becomes the
central dining area when all houses are in use. It is stunning at night
when candlelit for barbeques and seafood dinners. A shop near the Pool
House stocks Rebecca’s designs, clothes and ceramics, sketches, cards
and collected bits and pieces. Tiger Rock is also available for private
events and functions of a celebratory.
The 'purple' room with rosewood & mother of pearl panel. Sarongs are
provided as standard dress for the duration of your stay.
The studio opens onto its own private lawn with morning view of monkeys
leaping through the jungle. It was previously Rebecca's private studio
where so much of Tiger Rock artwork was produced. The studio is its own
private hideaway.
Food
All meals are provided at Tiger Rock by the management and caretaker
team of Mohan and Bavanni. Bavanni the chef, cooks the most delicious
food using fresh local ingredients, and Mohan is our most charming host
and Manager, anticipating your every need. Children can be catered to
separately, their tastes often different to adults, or at earlier times
to allow proper bedtimes. Babysitters are available. Special diets e.g.
vegetarian, gluten fare etc. are also catered for. It is definitely
worth noting that local island food is delicious and we have a list of
recommended island restaurants. Guests on a longer stay are encouraged
to take a breakfast trip to Sungei Pinang Kechil where a brilliant
'street breakfast' experience happens every day.
Pool
The gorgeous pool & Pool House overlooking the jungle is the central
meeting place of Tiger Rock. It's a great cooling off area after a hot
day at the beach! It is here that you can see the hornbills & eagles
soaring & gliding across the jungle & enjoy candlelit fresh seafood
barbeques well into the night. The hospitality of Mohan & Bavanni, the
manager & chef, are truly outstanding, the food utterly delicious. The
end of the pool seems to drop into the jungle beyond. This is the view
you first see on arrival at Tiger Rock & it is the picture that is left
in your head as you leave.
