The Datai, situated on the north-western tip of the pristine Malaysian island of Langkawi, provides an idyllic natural retreat within the depths of a centuries-old virgin rainforest. Set above a secluded cove, the resort has its own white sand beach facing the peaceful Andaman sea. Free-standing villas crafted from local materials are scattered throughout the forest and are connected to the resort’s central areas by a series of pathways.

Deluxe Rooms

Each of the 54 Deluxe Rooms is 62.5 m2 in size and the combined bedroom and living room contain a king-size bed, private bar with coffee and tea-making facilities, writing desk, LCD flat screen television, a day-bed and balcony with a view of the rainforest. The spacious bathroom and dressing room feature twin vanities, shower cabin, toilet, bathtub and ample luggage space.

Superior Villas

The 35 Superior Villas located in the heart of the tropical rainforest are connected to public facilities by a series of pathways. These 93 m2 elegantly designed villas incorporate an oversized day-bed, dining table for two, LCD flat screen television, Bose CD sound system, iPod and private bar with coffee and tea-making facilities. An equally spacious bathroom includes an 8” rainfall shower, bathtub and twin terrazzo vanities with its own wardrobe.

Pool Villas

Each of the five Pool Villas is a one bedroom villa with a size of 120 m2 similar to a Superior Villa but with an added benefit of having a private plunge pool with built-in Jacuzzi. The luxurious Pool Villas are also located in the heart of the rainforest, connected to public facilities by a series of pathways.

Corner and End Suites

Located in the main building, Corner and End Suites comprise a spacious bedroom with en suite bathroom and a spacious living area with dining table. Two Corner Suites and nine End Suites are available with size of 109 m2 and 125 m2, respectively. Each suite presents a spacious and private veranda overlooking the tropical forest and sea, and is fully equipped with an LCD flat screen television, Bose CD sound system, iPod and private with tea and coffee-making facilities.

Pool Suites

Four Pool Suites are located within close proximity to the beach front and each of them comprises of a bedroom with living area, spacious bathroom, dressing area and a private deck. Every two suites are adjoined by sheltered link ways, and share a private swimming pool, large sunning terrace, fitted kitchen, as well as common living and dining areas.

The Datai Suite

The 258 m2 Datai Suite has two large bedrooms and presents an expansive living and dining area, plus a fully equipped kitchen and a sandstone balcony with a panoramic ocean view the environs from every conceivable angle which is best enjoyed on the large balcony that fringes the suite. All rooms have individually controlled air conditioning, humidity control, ceiling fans, satellite television, DVD player, hairdryer, international direct dial telephone, wireless Internet connection, personal safe and private bar. Guests can avail to complimentary non-alcoholic beverages (except imported mineral water) in the mini-bar which is replenished once daily.

FACILITIES

18-hole Championship golf course - The Datai Bay golf course is conveniently located next to the hotel. A championship 18-hole course, it has been carefully landscaped to blend with the natural beauty of the tropical rainforest setting offering a unique golfing experience.

The Mandara Spa - The Mandara Spa can accommodate individuals or couples in each of its four pavillions and offers a host of exotic spa treatments that combine the spirit and traditions of Bali with the mysticism of Langkawi’s ancient rainforests. A haven of serenity for those seeking to restore body, mind and soul, the spa offers traditional body treatments such as herbal scrubs, massage treatments including the speciality Mandara massage where two spa therapists work in harmony on each guest, and aromatherapy treatments. Salt Radiance, Balinese Massage, Mandara Massage, Warm Stone Massage, Decleor Spa Pure, Datai Dreams, Rainforest Harmony, Langkawi Luxury and The Ultimate Indulgence.

Private Beach and Watersports Pavillion - The Datai’s private white sand beach is the perfect place to sit and soak up some sun while enjoying the crystal-clear azure waters of the Andaman Sea. The Watersports Pavillion provides a host of activities including snorkelling, sailing (on catamarans and hobie cats) windsurfing and paddle boarding. Boat charters for deep-sea fishing and scuba diving can also be arranged.

Pools - The Datai boasts not one but two swimming pools. The larger of the two rectangular pools is elevated among the forest canopy, with stunning views through the tree tops to the sea below. It is surrounded by a spacious terrace with comfortable sun-loungers and attractive umbrellas. The other pool, similar in design, is located down near the beach for those who wish to enjoy refreshing sea breezes.

Health Club - The Datai Health Club is available for guests’ use at no extra charge. Its facilities include a ladies’ and men’s sauna and hot and cold plunge pools, a fully-equipped gymnasium and juice bar.

Tennis Courts - Two flood-lit tennis courts, rackets and balls are available on a complimentary basis. A tennis pro will be available for lessons.

Nature Activities - Nature Walks around Langkawi’s stunning tropical rainforest are available. Knowledgeable guides will point out interesting aspects of the area’s rich flora and fauna. 

Mountain Biking - Mountain bikes are available on a complimentary basis for guests who wish to explore the scenic north coast of the island.

Library - The resort’s well-stocked library features novels, magazines and a host of books, some of which provide valuable insight into Malaysia’s rich history and culture. Complimentary e-mail and internet access is available in the library.

Meeting Facilities - Ideally suited for intimate meetings and conferences, The Datai has a purposed built boardroom that can cater to up to 50 persons. Facilities include full AV equipment, IDD and facsimile lines.

GETTING AROUND
Located on the north-west coast of Peninsula Malaysia close to the Thai border, Langkawi is a mystical island of wild scenic beauty and aquamarine seas. It is the largest in an archipelago of 104 islands scattered across the Andaman sea, separated from the mainland by the Straits of Malacca.
