FOOD
& BEVERAGE
Serai, which means
"lemongrass" in Malay, offers innovative cuisine from southeast Asia,
China and the Indian subcontinent. The design of our main restaurant,
accentuated with stone and timber, perfectly complements the beautiful
backdrop of lush greenery and the emerald waters of the Andaman Sea.
Serai is divided into two main areas. The buffet and breakfast area is
an open-air pavilion that seats up to 80 guests. A staircase leads to
the separate area where dinner is served. It features a 40-seat indoor
dining room and an adjacent patio for outdoor dining for 80 guests.
Set in the style of a "limas", the traditional
Malaysian residence, Ikan-Ikan exudes an
enviable charm. Meaning "fish" in Malay, Ikan-Ikan has a
fish-scale-tiled roof. Its teak wood deck offers spectacular ocean views
unrivalled in Asia. Ikan-Ikan is divided into four main seating areas,
each offering guests idyllic views of Langkawi. The largest is an
80-seat open-air teak deck with a two-storey Malay terra cotta roof.
Steps down from this is a palm-shaded cocktail and lounging area
offering a full range of alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks. Two
pavilions, one on each side of Ikan-Ikan, accommodate a bar with
cocktail seating on the one side, and a private dining room for 16 on
the other.
Set amongst natural surroundings within sound of
the sea, the poolside Kafe Kelapa features
a full-service bar offering a wide range of tropical and international
cocktails. A favourite drink is the famed young coconut iced water known
locally as "kelapa". Guests savour unobstructed views along with their
drinks and food. The traditional thatched roof - and a coconut
chandelier - complete the tropical ambience. Seats 52.
The Rhu Bar
cultivates a rich Middle Eastern ambience. Amidst hanging fabrics,
guests lounge on wicker sofas piled high with coloured cushions, while
enjoying views of clear blue waters and beyond. Turkish water pipes,
Indian Mogul hanging swings and a pool table covered in magenta felt
complete the picture. Authentic "kueh" (Asian sweets), served with a
variety of international and local teas, are available for Afternoon
Tea. For evening, Rhu Bar's beverage list features house special
tropical cocktails, old favourites, international beers and an extensive
wine list.
In-Room Dining offers guests the chance to
share a romantic dinner in the privacy of their pavilion or villa, or to
enjoy their own spectacular view while dining, either in-room or on the
outside patio. The menu features a range of Western-style items and
Asian favourites.
