Spa Village
Cameron Highlands Resort features the third wellness centre of the
award-winning Spa Village, with a wide range of sophisticated treatments
and healing therapies inspired by the restorative properties of tea.
Each guest luxuriates in a signature tea bath before every treatment.
Cameron Highlands Spa Village offers tranquil indoor and outdoor
treatment rooms, tea bath rooms and a fully-equipped gymnasium.
The Spa
Village concept has always been to celebrate the healing culture of the
region in which it resides. Set in an emerald landscape of lush farmland
and verdant jungle, Cameron Highlands finds its name and culture in the
unique blending of two distinctly dissimilar societies: The Orang Asli
or ‘original people’, who were the first settlers of the highlands and
the Colonial British pioneers.
The Orang
Asli possess a vast body of knowledge not only about plants, herbs and
flowers that have the power to heal but also about the whole ethos of
living harmoniously with nature.
During
the colonial era, British planters realized the potential of the fertile
mountain slopes for growing tea, then a prized commodity. Today Cameron
Highlands is still home to many tea plantations, being Malaysia's
largest tea-producing region.
The
treatments at Spa Village Cameron Highlands feature healing therapies
based on produce from the surrounding jungle and ancient tea rituals.
This authentic blending of culture and product is what makes Spa Village
Cameron Highlands such a unique and therapeutic healing retreat.
The tranquil ambience of the Spa Village in the lush surroundings of the
highlands will enhance the restorative treatments provided. Spa Village
Cameron Highlands features 6 Treatment Rooms, 4 Tea Bath Rooms, 2
Outdoor Cabanas and a fully equipped Gymnasium.
Throughout Asia, bathing rituals are an integral part of physical as
well as spiritual cleansing. Bathing is as important for your mind and
senses as it is for your body. Every guest will enjoy a signature tea
bath before each treatment, a heavenly soak formulated to gently
cleanse, nourish and soften your skin. The tea bath is based on an
ancient ritual to relieve stress and refresh the skin as well as slow
down the aging process. Let your mind and body escape from your busy
world at the Spa Village Cameron Highlands.
At Spa
Village Cameron Highlands, spa experiences includes a series of special
body treatments packaged to reflect the therapies and treatments of the
individual healing traditions found in the region.

GETTING AROUND
Cameron Highlands Resort is located in the
state of Pahang, approximately 200 km north of Kuala Lumpur on the east
side of the border between the states of Perak and Pahang in Malaysia.
At about 1,500 metres above sea level, it is the highest area on the
mainland stretching along a plateau set high above the river valley and
enjoys a cool climate and fresh air. Temperatures fluctuate between 22°
and 25° Celsius during the day and between 15° and 22° Celsius at night.
Cameron
Highlands was named after William Cameron, a British Government surveyor
who discovered it in 1885 whilst on a mapping expedition. However, he
failed to mark his discovery and it was not until 1925 that Sir George
Maxwell recorded Cameron’s discovery and decided to develop it as a hill
resort.
The fame
of Cameron Highlands grew during the colonial era. British colonials
were attracted to this cool hill station, its climate tailor-made for
nostalgic reconstructions of English cottages, narrow village lanes,
invigorating hikes through the countryside, rounds of golf and afternoon
teas of scones and locally produced strawberry jam.
British
expatriates would frequent the highlands to relax and escape the lowland
tropical heat, and British planters soon realised the potential of its
fertile mountain slopes for growing tea, then a prized commodity.
Cameron Highlands is still home to many tea plantations, as well as
strawberry and vegetable farms, jungle trails, cascading waterfalls and
rose gardens. Much of the highlands' character remains unchanged,
exuding an old English charm.
DIRECTION
To drive
up Cameron Highlands from Kuala Lumpur, take the North-South Expressway
and head up north.
You will
pass the following towns along the North-South Expressway: Rawang -
Tanjung Malim - Slim River - Sungkai - Bikam - Bidor - Tapah - Gopeng -
Simpang Pulai.
There are
two roads leading up to Cameron Highlands. One is the old road from
Tapah town and another from Simpang Pulai, which is the new route. There
are some narrow and sharp turns that you have to be careful if you are
taking the old route from Tapah. The new route from Simpang Pulai is
less winding and the road conditions are better. However, there is no
mobile coverage along this new route up Cameron Highlands.
From the
North-South Expressway, exit at the Simpang Pulai interchange (Exit
137).
Turn
right and follow the road signs up Cameron Highlands. You will pass by
Kampung Raja, Kuala Terla, Tringkap and Brinchang before reaching
Cameron Highlands Resort in Tanah Rata.
